IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION FROM THE EMBASSY OF LEBANON IN OTTAWA

The Embassy of Lebanon would like to inform all Lebanese living in Canada that starting June 1st, 2011 and at the request of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and after the Lebanese authorities were informed that more than thirty countries are now reluctant to grant visas or renewing residency permits for holders of Lebanese burgundy passports, for these reasons the Embassy asks its citizens to apply through its consular section for obtaining a new passport (Biometric-Color Blue) issued exclusively by the Directorate of General Security in Lebanon.

Applications for new passports will be sent to Lebanon by diplomatic pouch and returned to the Embassy in the same way.

Getting a new passport will take at least one month from the date of submission of the application to the Embassy.

New Passport

1. Call for an appointment to complete the form including the signature and stamp of the concerned person at the Consulate in front of the Consular Officer.
2. Requested documents

Individual Passport

1. Recent extract of individual registration (Ikhraj Kayd Fardy date of issuance does not exceed 5 years) or Lebanese ID (new one computerized) or a photocopy of passport of the person issued in Lebanon after the year 1990: Only notarized copies of these documents are acceptable.
2. A copy of the passport that the applicant intends to replace.
3. Two recent color photos (Size 4,3 x 3,5 cm not drawn from another photos) showing full details of the face with a white background.
4. Self-addressed stamped, Express Post, envelope with phone number (to send you back the original documents and passport).
5. Money order payable to the Embassy of Lebanon:
   • $72 CDN for one year
   • $360 CDN for five years
   • $720 CDN for ten years (biometric only)

Family Passport

In addition to the above documents, the applicant should have in possession:

1. Two recent color photos of each child (according to the specifications mentioned above-clause c). Paste the child’s photo in the space provided for that. (1st child in the middle, 2nd child to the left and the 3rd to the right).
2. An extract of family registration including the names of accompanying minors to be added to the passport.

Renewal of Lebanese Passports

To renew the passport of an adult (Over 18)

1. Actual passport & Consular fees
   • $72 CDN for one year
   • $360 CDN for five years
   • $720 CDN for ten years (biometric only)
2. Extract of individual registration or digital copy of I.D. card.
3. Two recent color photos (Size 4.3 x 3.5 cm not drawn from another photos) showing full details of the face with a white background

To renew a family passport (including children) or minor passport (under 18 years)

1. Valid Passports
2. Extract of family registration
   • with a photocopy of the document
3. Permission to travel
   • In a separate declaration signed at the Embassy or a Public Notary
4. Consular Fees (See above)
5. Two recent passport colour photos (4.3 cm x 3.5 cm) showing full details of the face with a white background

Replacing a lost passport

• A lost passport should be reported immediately to the local police that will issue a police report.
• A notice about the loss of the passport should be published in a local newspaper for three consecutive days.

If the passport is not found, the following are required to have it replaced:

1. A photocopy or digital record of the lost passport (if available).
2. An extract of the familial registration or two notarized copies of the document.
3. An extract of individual registration or the new I.D. card computerized or two notarized copies of these documents.
4. Fill out the form of a new passport in the same manner as paragraph I and amend article (h) only by putting an x at the proper place (Replace or lost passport).
5. Money order payable to the Embassy of Lebanon
   • $72 CDN for one year valid passport
   • $360 CDN for five year valid passport
   • $720 CDN for ten year valid passport (biometric only)

New or renewal of travel documents for Palestinian

1. Fill out and stamp your right thumb on 2 Palestinian identification cards at the Consulate in front of the Consular Officer
2. Fill out a Travel Document Form with the following documents:
   • Palestinian blue ID card with 2 photocopies
   • UNRWA refugee card with 2 photocopies
   • Actual travel document with 1 photocopy
   • The 2 fingerprinted Palestinian identification cards
   • 4 photos (Passport size)
   • Canadian Landed Immigrant papers
   • Money order payable to the Embassy of Lebanon
     • $72 CDN for one year valid passport
     • $360 CDN for five year valid passport
